I am trying to use the trial version of the latest version of Corel Video Studio.
I have a Canon HF10. I created a half hour video with those AVCHD files and now I want to transfer them to DVD.
I have 3gb of ram dual core processor and using vista.
How long should it take to burn this to DVD>
1.84g worth of files.
It seems to be taking forever - 46% complete after 42 minutes
any help?
Length of time to burn DVD

I am afraid that is going to have to be something you learn to live with... When converting either HDV or AVCHD to standard definition DVD, my Quad 6600 takes normally 3 - 4 times real time. So for a half hour project, that would mean 90 minutes to 2 hours. In other words, your own experience seems very similar in terms of time.
The point is that AVCHD is one of the most demanding formats on computer resources, and it simply takes time, even on the most powerful computer, to convert it. Even if you tried the alternative work flow and first converted your AVCHD project to standard definition mpeg-2 in the Editor, and then inserted that new file in the burning module, it would still, collectively, take around the same time...
I did, however, get some very positive results by using a relatively cheap program called Ashampoo Core Tuner which can assign both of your cores to the process of conversion. Normally, VS does not take advantage of multiple cores to any significant degree.

I don't use AVCHD, but that's probably normal. AVCHD is "highly compressed" and that makes transcoding computationally intensive. It seems to be taking forever - 46% complete after 42 minutes

Not yet into the world of High Definition - my Standard Definition does all I ask of it. However......
If you follow My recommended work flow and create an edited video file first rather than placing the project into the [Share] [Create Disc] stage, then most of the work has been done already. All that needs to be done in this stage is for you to create the DVD Menus. If you then continue to the "Burn" stage it normally takes about 15 minutes.

But I believe Ken recommends burning straight from the project when working with HDV or ACVHD.
