removing transition effect - ie burgers or others

Post by Ilene »

I would like to remove Burgers Effects package from my computer so that I can make room for others VS X2 - seems to only allow for 20... when you go above 20, the title, text screen appears where the effects should be ( even though the effects package appears on the drop down list of transitions)

I unintalled burgers ( add/remove programs and restarted my computer) - the program is gone from my add/remove program list but burgers still appears w all the transitions in VS x2. If I remove the burgers vfx files from the vfx_plug folder - then the burgers still appears in the drop down transition listing - but the effects area is empty. I need to get burgers off that drop down list so that another package ( new blue fx) will be visable and workable.

Obviously there is some hidden file that tells VS X2 to show Burgers on the list. Anyone know where it might be? what to do?

lmk. thanks.

Hi Steve - thanks for responding. Unless I am missing something - the link that you send me refers to the dat libraries for everything BUT transitions... I haven't noticed that one even exists. I'm trying to figure out where the file resides that tell VS to create a category of Transtions called Burger. I want to eliminate it from the list and leave all my other transition categories in place.

let me know if you know where that file might be.
thanks.

Currently I only have my laptop which uses Vista, and those files are found here: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vfx_plug. This should be the same on an XP machine..

Hi..I tried that already. Unfortunately, removing the burgers 1-23.vfx files fromthe vfx_plug folder just removes the transitions. When you open VS, it updates, but the burgers option is STILL in the list of drop down transitions--- just the window when you click on it is empty. I need to get burgers off the list of drop down effects (transitions) so that I can add another category.

This is a two step process.
Step 1. Remove the unwanted transitions from the VFX_Plug Folder
Whilst this removes the transitions, the entry in the Transitions Effect Library will still be present - albeit empty.

Step 2. Remove HerEff.dat from

On a Vista Home Premium machine they are found at found C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0.
On an XP machine they are found at "C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0"

This causes VideoStudio to rebuild the Transitions Library.

thanks - I knew there had to be another file to remove.

Do you kow if you remove this file... will the transition library reload ( I assume upon restart of the program) with the transitions that came with the program or will it leave all the add-ons in place ie hollywood, canopus etc.... that I've added to the vfx_plug since using the program, and simply eliminate burger from the list or which ever trnasitions I eliminated from the vfx folder.

It sounds like this is a similar fix to removing the vfilter.rsf when the filters dissappear.

I always get nervous making too many changes..........

thanks.

When you delete the file, next time you restart VideoStudio it will create a new one and populate the library with any transitions it finds in your VFX folder.

That sounds easy.... Sounds like exactly what happens with that filter file that I referenced earlier. Just didn't want to have to try and get all those other third party effects working again! I will try it and let you know. Thx!

hi steve - i tried to follow the steps you recommended. I backed up the orig hereff.dat file ( cut it and pasted it into another folder). then I deleted the vfx files from the vfx_plug folder that I no longer wanted. Then I deleted the hereff.dat file and restarted to Video Studio. It did not yield the effect I was looking for.... still the burgers folder was there - this time empty... and other 3rd party effects were gone as well even though they were still in the vfx_plug folder.... They were listed in the drop down list of effects in video studio, but when you cliced on Hollywood fx, or Canopus Video Fx - the transitions options were no longer displayed. I then copied back my original hereff.dat file and all was restored. VERY STUBBORN - I can't seem to get rid of the categoies I dont want once they are added!!

hmmmmmm

thanks,

OK follow these steps.

1. Cut and paste all third party transitions from your VFX folder to a temporary folder.
2. Delete
"C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0"
3. Restart VideoStudio - this will reset ALL libraries to their initial settings when you first installed the program.
4. Close VideoStudio.
5. paste the third party transitions back from the temporary folder to the VFX folder.
6, Restart VideoStudio - this will now add those third party transitions
Hollywood fx, Canopus Video Fx etc.
