Unable to capture via firewire

Post by np_forster »

:( Hi
I have a PC running XP SP2 2.4 P4 512MB Ram 75GB hard drive. I have firewire(1394) ports on this PC and when I connect my digicam to any of the ports it is recognized and appears in the control panel. I now start up VS 9.0 and select DV-DVD wizard and from the Device list select Sony--MSDV
From here I'm not able to select anything else and the next step should be to start scan.........
Can anyone help on this one

If I bypass the wizard I can control the camera but as soon as I hit capture video i get 'Unable to switch to capture mode. Check if your video capture driver is working properly' and underneath this is ' Failed to build a preview graph'
What driver is it refering to? I am connecting from camcorder dv out to a port on my firewire card. Doesn't VS supply and drivers for firewire capture

Is your DirectX installation up-to-date, i.e. are you running DirectX 9.0c, and are you using a current version of your video card's driver?

Do you have Windows Movie Maker installed, and tried capturing using that?
