Some video clips do not burn to dvd

Post by DJSanje »

I successfully burned a movie of video clips and pics. I only fixed some audio that seemed loud the first time around. The last two times I tried to burn the first few clips made it on the dvd, but the rest are just black screen. The music still plays but no video. Then, it jumps right back to the pics as soon as they come up again in the movie. No error message is shown, it just says I've successfully burned the dvd. So I'm not sure what the issue is, any ideas?

What do you mean by
I only fixed some audio that seemed loud the first time around
If you put a different audio clip in, is it longer in duration than your video and image clips?

This is a common problem when using MP3 music, use wav/wma audio and see if that helps.

I think what the OP is saying that the DVD burned successfully but when playing it there is black screen where the video should be and the stills show on-screen in the correct place.

or, in other words... there are gaps in the DVD where the video should be.

Sounds like a codec issue to me.

Open VS and right click on the video on the timeline. Type out the details that your see.

It's the Handycam video clips. All I did was adjust the volume on the music already there. I actually don't think it has anything to do with the music. When I burn the dvd, at the parts where the Handycam clips are supposed to play, only the first 2 or 3 play, then, the rest are blank. I'm able to burn successfully, it's almost like the clips don't exist. The music continues to play in the background and for the duration of the clips it's just blank on my tv screen with music still playing, then right back to pics as if I purposely left a 10 sec blank spot in my movie. What I can't understand is why the first few play but the rest don't.

I only ever used the "Normalise Audio" function in the burning stage once and recall having a problem with the DVD. Quite some time ago so unable to recall what the problem was because I never used it again. Simply used other methods to "fix" the level of the audio.

If this is not the same problem then it could be due to a "bad burn" - for a number of issues/cures please see

I'm really pleased how people on this board take the time to read and reply back. This is truely a good community here. Turns out it must have been a bad burn or at least a minor glitch in the program. I watched the project again on my pc and I noticed that on viewer the movie clips would show but on the time line below they wouldn't. When I paused the video about 2 seconds later the video would appear on the time line. I went through the whole video, pausing where there was a blank and just let the image load on the time line. I attempted to burn again and it worked. Thanks for all who replied :)
