Audio sync problem with the videostudio X2

Post by luigy39 »

First I would like to say hi to everybody being my first post and also to point out that I am glad that I found a forum that gives this kind of support for Corel products. :D

I am having an audio sync problem when I try to edit HD-TV stored in my hard drive captured by the Avermedia Volar max. I can watch and hear the video clip perfectly fine in the preview window and even when I add the HD clip to the time-line but only in the CLIP mode, once I go to PROJECT mode everything is out of sync, if I go back and forth the "clip" will always play fine but not the "project". By the way I have no problems playing anything Hd on my computer including HD-TV using Windows media center or blu ray, etc. I recently downloaded the latest upgrade from the Corel website, I don't know how to check the current version though.

Hi Luigy -- and welcome to the Forums!

Well, your computer is certainly powerful enough -- mine is not dissimilar. And thank you for posting your system details.

I often find that playback in Project mode is pretty awful, with jerky video and sometimes erratic sound, even on my Quad. But the preview/project mode is really having to work overtime as it is in effect rendering your project real-time into whatever you have set as project properties. It is only a temporary render and will not affect your final product.

But that brings me to my main point -- have you actually rendered your project fully to an output file? And if so, is the audio still out of sync in that? If so, try it again but without SmartRender enabled (if it was in the first place...)

Thank you for your reply. yes, I did burn on a BD-r disk and the results were the same, the audio was out of sync. where can I enable the SmartRender feature?

So I have posted several questions to Corel customer's service over the last 2 weeks, their lack of response is insulting and I'm really dissapointed as a customer. I will have to give up on this program as it is useless to me and Corel as a whole because of their lack of support, they did charge my credit card very quickly though when I bought the product.

Unless someone has a solution here on the forum, I don't know what to do.

Silly question: How do you turn SmartRender off?

Having experienced sync issues before (many have) I can also suggest this is certainly not an issue exclusive to VideoStudio, but more could relate to the actual initial recording itself.

If you first split the Audio within VS and then playback the Audio + Video are they still in sync?

I noticed when using WMC to record channels the audio required ¡§one tenth¡¨ of a second removing from the beginning of the Audio track, which could then be aligned with the Video track to render a projects Audio and Video synchronised.

It shouldn`t be too difficult to determine the time values, may be try with some smaller files created with the same recording techniques as it could involve a little trial and error.

Feel even sillier now, my Save As dialog looks like this:

Can't see "Options"
Am I looking in the wrong place, File then Save As?

OK found it now. It's in the "Create Video File" option. Sorry should have had a better look in the first place

John,

Nothing wrong, just that you're thinking Save Project as, which is evident of the VSP extension in the Save as type block. I should have clarified my example, it is from the Share>Create Video File dialog that opens...

Was totally confused by this post but it has all become magically clear. Another big learning curve completed. I only hope I can remember all that have learned in the past few months when I get back to some real video work outside. Hopefully very soon now!!! :)

I wish it could be as easy as to sync it in the way you suggest, but I have split the audio several times and the program always shuts down right after I try to do anything else with it.

When you say "shuts down" do you mean the program closes as if you have pressed the "x" at top right or the program crashes, that is freezes?

That was not what Ken was getting at - please try the following.
1. Insert your Video onto the VideoStudio timeline
2. Goto the [Share] tab and select [Create Video] and now let it create a new video on your hard drive.

Now check that new video file.
