Welcome to the forums,
First we need to know if any or all of these programs are TBYB (Try Before You Buy)? If not then there are patches that could correct some of these issues. Have you installed the applicable patches for VS 11 and Pro? NOTE, Patches will not install to TBYB versions.
Digital Studio is indeed a very heavy, resource hog of a program. I think Corel made a very serious error, having it scan (snoop about) a system constantly. Video editing is demanding enough on PCs, even when you customize them so as to run only the minimal services. At best it should only search when manually told to, not automatically and constantly.

VS 11 - This is not a TBYB and I can't apply any patches because error 1610 came up before installing the program, just after it asks serial.vidoman wrote:Welcome to the forums,

Have you recently updated Microsoft's DirectX? It is not part of the automated Windows updates, thus you must manually download and run it. See this Sticky Thread at the top of this forum. The most current is dated August 2009. (I need to do this yet...

If VS 11 is a purchased upgrade from Corel, and if you at least registered an earlier qualifying version with Corel, and need to obtain the serial number(s) for the earlier version, you can log-in to Corel's web site and retrieve that information.
I just checked to refresh my memory, on the patches for VS11. There is one patch that needs to be installed prior to installing VS11, however you should have received an AVControl SDK error while trying to install. Since you did not get that specific error, that patch should not be applicable.
I'll also suggest disabling your antivirus program while trying to install. Some tend to throw false hits..
How long ago, and where did you obtain it? Have you ever been able to use it? Is it an upgrade from a previous version? Upgrades starting with either VS10 or VS11, only requires entry of a previous eligible version's serial number, instead of having the disc in the tray or the previous version installed. Not being there to see, I'm not sure if you're entering the serial number for VS11, in the box where the previous version serial number should go.error on VS 11Error 1610
