Suppose i have a dvd compliant mpeg 2 file that is 5.5 GB and i wish to fit this on a DVD-5 is it according to vs compliant and will it smart render. In other words lowering the bitrate to fit on a single DVD is equal to the program NOT smart rendering?
Then how does one fit a home movie larger than 5BG on a single DVD with menus without processing twice and wasting time or how can i produce a DVD complaint mpeg 2 from a source sing VS that i can be sure will fit on a DVD 5 with menus
Wish VS would iroduce a fit to one dvd feaure that almost ALL editors (even those less superior to VS) feature today
qustion about DVD compliant mpeg 2

Hi
If you change the bit rate to reduce the file size then Smart Render will have no effect as every frame has to be re-coded to the lower bit rate.
If you have a Duel Layer DVD that contains a movie of say 5.5Gb, (you don¡¦t say where you got your movie from)
When you import the movie to Video Studio there should be no re-coding.
You edit the movie and create a new video file reducing the bit-rate accordingly, allowing the file to fit a single layer DVD at 4.3 GB
Using a bit rate calculator will help in selecting the correct rate.
The new file being used to burn a DVD.
Only one render has been performed.
One of the earlier versions of VS did have a fit to disc option,(can¡¦t remember which) but this renders the video.
