Adding a soundtrack to home movies
Hi-I burned a DVD using my DVD recorder and a VHS tape with some old home movies. I would like to add an MP3 as a background, but can't figure out an easy way to do it (since you can only add one MP3 to each video in MF3). I used the "Edit Disc" feature of MF3 to edit the DVD that was created by the DVD recorder to join all the MPGs together to try to make one big file, so I could add a joined MP3 file I made using another program (that matches the length of the entire home movie). Well, MF3 then split the new, edited DVD into MPG segments of 6 minutes each. That means I have to make an MP3 file of 6 minutes each or figure out some other way to do this. Anyone got any ideas? I already have a long MP3 file that matches the length of the home DVD, I just can't figure out how to add this one file as a soundtrack to the new DVD. Thanks.

Is this DVD recorded in a desktop DVD recorder?
If so, the recommended way to interface recorded dvd's
is using the "Playlist" function in the recorder.
You must record the dvd using a dvd-rw in VR mode.
Create a "Playlist" on the desktop recorder.
Import the playllist.
If when you create the playlist you mark the whole complete
video as one scene then the whole scene will be imported
and not the chapters.
The exception to this is the source material on the dvd must
have been recorded non-stop (as is the case with any dvd).
The case of importing only chapters not a good feature with the
ulead products but it appears this is what they want. They could
easily program the code to import the complete video.
Their are many programs that will import the whole movie.
Nero version 6 Ultra Edition with the latest updates.
This also applies to using Dvd-ram disks.
Whats's really nice about the playlist and also very fast is if
you format a dvd-rw in VR mode. Then record non-stop from
a VHS tape of the movie, you then trim the ends which will keep
the whole Mpeg2 file on the dvd intact (don't split).
Then you can create many playlists of certain sections rather than
cutting and editing on the computer. So if I want to get the section(s)
of the tape of maybe a birthday party I'll mark that as a scene in the
playlist on the recorder. Then import the playlist.
Doing this you can import a complete 4gig+ file (Mpeg2) on the disk
if your prefer.
Hope this helps,
MD
