Audio Editing from middle of clip

Post by mzimpfer »

Hi,

I own VideoStudio 10 Plus. I have movies in wmv format that I am interested in editing audio out of - often 1 or 2 seconds only - and leaving the rest of the audio intact. How do I do this? I tried rubber banding the audio down in these sections, but for some reason, the audio and video tracks did not seem perfectly synched after that.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Did you split the audio to use the rubber banding? I ask that because that could be why the audio went out of sync - if you accidentally moved either the video or audio track.

With that said, you don't have to split the audio to use the rubber banding. But you do have to put the video clip in Audio View by clicking on the Speaker icon above the timeline.

Another alternative is to cut the video before and after the audio that you don't want, then mute that part.

I believe that I may have split the audio first, but then went back at another pass and clicked audio view. Are you suggesting that maybe I grabbed the audio or video and then moved it a bit? Interestingly, I wouldn't even know how to do that but I suppose it's possible.

I will just use audio view and rubber band the audio clip only. That should leave the synch intact right?

Also, what do you mean about cutting the video before and after the video then muting?

Thanks again,

Mark

Hi

Working with video in the timeline, the video is represent by virtual clips.

From Edit View
You can use the ¡¥Scissors¡¦ to cut the clips into sections.
Make two cuts, one at the start and one at the end for your selection.
You now have three virtual clips, the middle one being the section you wish to edit the audio.

View my guide to a Navigation the Timeline A Quick Cut, although written for VS 8 is still relevant for later versions.
Mute the middle selection. (from Edit View)
Fade out the first clip, fade in the last clip.
Set the fade duration from File Preferences
