VS9 help editiing audio in video clip

Post by jrothlisberger »

I have a video clip that I added to my project but one person speaks a word that I want to edit out as it is not appropriate for the project. Besides removing those exact frames is there any way to mute those small portions of the video?

Thanks,
John

Hi,

You can add a *cut-a-way* piece of video on the overlay track, and use the sound mixer to mute the audio on the main track.

You can switch to the frame-level zoom mode in the timeline, locate the offending word, cut the video just before and after the word, and then mute the audio of the short clip with the offending word. You could even insert a bleep in the second audio track.

Click on the loudspeaker icon at the bottom left of the 'EDIT' page and you will notice a black line appear on your video track. Add points - I would suggest 4 - with the arrow cursor where the offending sound appears. Drag the inner two points to the bottom of the timeline, the sound will be muted and - Hey Presto, Job Done !
Video Studio is not nearly as complicated as it may appear, it's just a case of playing around with the various functions, reading the help file and, of course, using this forum..........
Cheers,
