MF3.0 SE DVDMF.EXE - Application Error

Post by Chief Monkey »

Dell Inspiron 8200 1GB 2.0 GHz Windows XP Prof V2002 SP1

After performing some disk clean-up with System Mechanic 5 and archiving over 400 junk files I now get an application error

When closing the Create Video Disk session I get the DVDMF.EXE application error prior to returning to the Launch menu :?:

The error message is as follows
The instruction at "0x76bf1913" referenced memory at "0x76bf1913". The memory could not be "read"

The registry was not modified, since I was only performing a disk clean-up - I did restore some of the files in my document settings...temp directories without any success :?:

I also performed a clean uninstall and install using steps described in a previous post and I am still getting the same message

I will try and restore all of the archived files and see if this error message will no longer display - but I would like to avoid this since my objective was to clean some junks from my system :!:

Any suggestions

Thank you all 8)

I did install the 300P01, DVD/CD burner and 16XDVD patches posted on the ULEAD site and I am still getting the error only when I close the DVDMF.EXE :?:

I did e-mail ULEAD tech support and got their catch all response to perform a clean uninstall and to reinstall  I was hoping for a more technical response as to the probable causes of what could have cause this error message to display when closing the application (file missing, registry entry problem or corrupted DLL...) I get the impression that they can't even read there on code

As far as uvmpeg2.dll, I will e-mail you the MF3 version as soon as I get a chance – don’t have access to my laptop at the moment 8)

OK!

After a few hours of investigation (uninstall and reinstall), I realized that I should read the message for what it is

The error message when closing DVDMF.EXE is as follows
The instruction at "0x76bf1913" referenced memory at "0x76bf1913". The memory could not be "read"

A few weeks ago I did upgrade my memory from 512MB (2 x 256 Kingston memory) to 1GB (2 x 512 Kingston memory) - it's supposed to be compatible, same brand and same type; so I decided to restore my laptop with the original memory and now I can close DVDMF.EXE without having this annoying message :P

I also tried reversing the order of the memory 512MB from slot A to B and B to A and I still get the same error message

I am a little bit confused because it seems that MF3 is the only application that raises this exception when closing  All other applications have been behaving properly since this upgrade

I wonder if ULEAD MF3 does something peculiar about it's physical memory management beyond 512MB :?:

Does anyone know of a good program that can actually check my new memory for potential problems

Thank you all 8)

Subsequent to my previous post, I decided to remove the memory from slot B, leaving only 512MB in slot A just to make sure that my memory was not defective in some way  And the result was that I did not get the error message when closing DVDMF.EXE :?

I did forward this info to ULEAD support with my system info and I am waiting for there reply 8)
