How to determine if VS will Smart Render when burning DVD

I know when I create a video file, I can use the MPEG Optimizer to see exactly what parts of my project VS will smart render. Is there a way to do something similar when burning a DVD?

There doesn't appear to be a "MPEG Optimize" setting in the burning module. I know that the default bitrate setting for an NTSC-DVD (8000) does not match the MPEGs in my project, so I would need to change that, but without an Optimizer like feature, I don't know what else I might need to change.

Thanks,
Richard

If you have produced an mpeg-2 -- 'optimized' or otherwise -- which is DVD-compatible, and you put that in the burning module, and make sure the 'do not convert' box in the middle icon is ticked, then the video will not be rendered at all, Smartly or otherwise.

Unfortunately, these aren't MPEG files that I have produced. They come from my Camcorder. I know they can be produced without re-encoding because the MPEG Optimizer shows me. I'd just like confirmation that I picked the correct settings when burning a DVD.

Thanks,
Richard

Well, since you (1) don't say what format the files are in or (2) tell us what the settings are you picked, it is impossible to say...

I guess I'm just looking for visual confirmation of what I know should work. The source files are MPEG-2 (upper field first) 16x9 with a bitrate of 9400. I use custom settings and match these exactly, I just would like to "see" it on the screen the way the MPEG Optimizer shows it so I know for sure that it's doing what I think it should be doing.
