I am transferring some VHS video tapes to DVD they are of ultrasonic scans for a Doctor. They are now stored on my computer as mpeg files. I am using VS12 to edit them. The problem is that all the settings of the ultrasonic scans are shown around the edge of the video. They are clearly visible on the VS12 edit screen but when transferred to DVD and shown on TV the edges are off screen. Is there a way to reduce the size of the displayed screen so that all is shown on the TV. I have tried pan and zoom, this will shift the screen to one side but I loose the information on that other side. Any ideas please.

With your clips selected in the timeline, click on the Attribute tab, then put a check in the Distort Clip box. Doing so will enable the Title Safe Area, which is a box in the Preview Window that ensures that anything in it will not be cut off by analog TV's overscan area. It will also put trim handles around your clip in the Preview Window. Now click on those trim handles and drag the edges of your clip so they are within the Title Safe Area.
