Max #'s for MF6
Max #'s for MF6
What is the maximum number of slideshows you can work with on MF6 all at one time, and what is the maximum # of chapters per slideshow you can have? Also, is there a limit to the number of images per slideshow?
I've never actually made a slideshow, but I think its the same as a regular video DVD.
A DVD can have up to 99 titles. A title is a movie, a separate program, or a seperate clip such as a "special feature", etc. You will get a pause between titles, and you can't put a transition between titles.
Each title can have up to 99 chapters. A chapter is simply a "marker" somewhere in a title. You can link a menu button to a chapter (not required), and you can skip back & forth between chapters using the >>| and |<< keys on your remote. There is no gap between chapters and playback does not stop at the end of a chapter. (Technically, there is no "end" of a chapter, just the start of a new chapter. And, with pro DVD authoring software you can stop at the "end" and return to the menu.)
So, between titles & chapters, you could (in theory) have almost 10,000 entry points, each with a menu button! (That might not be true... There might be a limit to the number of menus.)
I don't think there is any (practical) limit to the number of slides. It's more of a playing time issue. (i.e. If you compress a 10 hour slideshow onto a DVD, you'll notice quality loss during transitions.)

Back to school......... think flick book.Phil P wrote:.... is there a limit to the number of images per slide show?
When we were at school they taught you how to create a cartoon by drawing a picture on page 1, then on page 2 duplicating it with a slight movement, repeat this with page 3 and so on, then when the book is complete flick the pages and watch your very own cartoon.
The difference between a slide show and a movie picture is the rate at which you flick from picture to picture. A slide show will have as picture change once every 5 seconds or so, depending upon what the creator of the slide show has decided. A PAL (Most of Europe) video will have 25 of these pictures every second - a NTSC (U.S.A. / Japan) will have just under 30 of these pictures flash before your eyes every second.
It is not uncommon to place a 2 hour movie onto a standard DVD Video Disc. If we use PAL as an example that 2 hour video will contain
25 Frames per second
multiplied by 60 seconds per minute
multiplied by 120 minutes ( hours)
25 x 60 x 120 = 180,000 Frames. Each Frame is a picture.
