Canon HV40 HD recoring error on Video Studio X2

Post by johanns »

Hi

I have seen this problem on the board but not with VS X2 and the Canon HV40

I use the new canon HV40 fine in DV mode on my PC. The moment I switch to HDV on the camara, it gives the error (Error 15023:4:2), please check driver. I have the latest service pack of XP and direct X drivers on my PC. (I have do have a analogue capture card. (WinPVR350) (I realy do not want to remove this)
(I have completly remove and re-install of VS12 on my PC, no change)

For noting
I have tried this my laptop "IBM T400" and it capture footage but without a preview (HDV converted to Mpeg2). (Preview is just black)
If it is the winpvr card related problem does anyone know where the files are stored in order for me to replace them on my PC with the once from my my laptop. (Or do I need to wait for a Corel patch?)
Thanks

Well, the mystery is that your camera should not need a special driver to capture in either HDV or DV format (I have the HV20). I assume you are capturing using Firewire, and that your computer has a Firewire card in it as well as the WinPVR350. But Firewire is the only way to capture from that capture in full quality, whether standard definition or high definition.

So can you please confirm if you are indeed using Firewire...

As for it working on the laptop but without preview, have you checked in File > Preferences > General that your Instant Playback Target is set to Monitor...?

Hi Ken

Yes using Firewire, Yes I have got two cards.
I agree using Firewire should not require a driver.

The strange thing is that I have tried HD recording with a JVC ProHD (6 pin fire wire to 6 pin) and it gave me the same problem on the PC and the Laptop :?: :?: .

Thanks have changed it will check if it makes a difference with HD. It is strange that the DV playback worked fine as it was set.

PS: I Saw last night that I sill have UVS11 installed. I will uninstall this as well.

Thanks

FWIW, having VS11 installed will make no difference. A number of us have a variety of earlier versions installed at the same time so as to be able to help out here. This computer, for instance, has VS 12, 11.5 and 10+ and all work fine and independent of each other...
