Spec : Asus Rampage Extreme Motherboard /EVGA AR GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 Bit GDDR3 /Corsair 8gig XMS DDR3/Intel Core 2 Extreme QX 9770 Yorkfield OCed 4.2 LGA 775/136W Quad Core / Water Cooled/ 2 WD Raptor 150gig 10,000 rpm Drives in Raid O Mode/WD Raptor 150gig internal back up/400 gig External WD back up Drive/Thermaltake 1200 Watt PS/Sony Dual Layer DVD RD/RW/Plextor DVD/RW/ Thermaltake Kandalf Tower/ Sound Blasters X-FI Platinum / X52 Pro ....OS,XP Pro. The HD I have VSX2 on is only set up for FSX and video. There is no AV,or AS,Spam block. Very few programs.I have been using VS10, with update to VS11.5 with no problems what so ever. I decided to update to VSX2 and have had a number of errors when backing up and sometimes in the middle of editing a project. I can deal with that. Yes I have the patches and updates. No I am not overheating. All hardware are water cooled with a 4 gallon tower, nothing gets above 100 degrees under full stress and load.One of the biggest problem is when I edit my work and make all the changes then save it all looks fine. Then when I go to burn a DVD I do a preview, all looks well. When I burn it...and look at it....some of the pictures I post edited out are still there. On top of that the film will run for 15 seconds then stop and freeze, the only way I can get pass that point is to fast forward it and all is fine.At hen beginning of the film I used the Fireworks video, then start with pictures and music. About the second shot it stops. After 27 DVDs, pulling out all my hair, now I am bald...lol. I uninstalled VSX10 and used VS11.5 to finish the product. I missed some of the features on VSX2.This is what I have done to correct my nightmare, used a different DVD, tried a different type of DVD. Removed the first part of the film( Firework video) sometimes this worked.Uninstalled VSX2 and removed all traces in the registry,file area and C drive. Tried to redownloaded everything and reinstalled...same problem.....what button am I not pressing right.

You haven't told us what buttons you *are* pressing, so how do we know which ones you aren't pressing right. In other words, what is your workflow? Are you doing your editing and then jumping straight to the burning module to produce your DVD (Share > Create Disc > DVD)? Or are you doing your editing, then, while still in the Editor module, are you first producing a DVD-compatible mpeg-2? (The latter is what we recommend as, regardless of the Rolls Royce computer, quite often things go wrong if you use the former workflow).

We don't even know what type of video you start off with, its properties, let alone what properties are then applied in producing your DVD. Without that sort of information, it is almost impossible even to hazard a guess as to what might be going wrong.

So please have a look at the sticky at the top of the Forum, the one headed 'Please Read This Before Posting" at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=41454#41454 and then come back to us with the information it requests, and then maybe someone will be able to help.

Are you editing standard definition video, or some form of Hi-Def, which includes HDV and AVCHD?

I think your workflow may be the problem. While it is possible to jump straight into the burn module using your project file (Share>Create Disc>DVD), the method we recommend is to first create a video file from your project (Share>Create Video File>DVD). Then clear the timeline, fastest method is to select File>New Project. Now do not place anything in the timeline, go to the Share step and select Create Disc. This opens the burn module, and once it's open insert your newly created video file.

One other thing you might do if you have not already done so is Go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated March 2009. This seems to correct several issues, that are broken by standard Windows updates. It is not included in those updates, so must be manually downloaded and ran.

Try using DVD+RW. You can erase these and use them over and over again. Bit dearer than DVD_R but for testiing much cheaper in the long run.

That's interesting. I cannot get VS11.5 to burn any DVD-R discs. It will only burn DVD+R and DVD+RW.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to get back with ya sooner. We were have problems with our flight simulator site. Anyway, I opened VSP X2, selected Video studio Editor,file,new project.Selected a video as my open,( v17) then started on the time line at the bottom of adding pictures,sound,title. After putting all the pictures I wanted and the transitions, 9 seconds of the picture,3 seconds of the trans. I did a ending, viewed the file a couple times. Went to the top,selected Tools,Create disk. Set up the way I wanted it.. Slowed down the copy speed, burned it all looked like that part went well and then when I put it in a DVD player I started to notice that after the first 15 seconds it could freeze, the only was past that point was to fast forward it.

Thanks, but you still haven't told us where the video came from or what its properties are. In VS, could you please right click on one of your original video clips and copy ALL its properties down here please... Then we will know what we are dealing with.

You have, however, indicated what your workflow is. As you will have seen from my post above, and that of Vidoman, your workflow is not what we recommend. It works for some people all the time, but for many others, it causes problems. So follow the steps set out by Vidoman and see if that helps.

Try changing the make of DVD-R disc. I use Sony DVD-R Ver. 2.1/1x-16x and they work OK every time.

When a burner has difficulty with a certain type of disc, it is usually not a software problem, but hardware (as suggested by mitchell65). Some burners don't like either certain types of discs (either "preferring" + or -) or else have difficulty (again as suggested by mitchell) with certain brands, often because -- believe it or not -- of the colour of the dye used on them. The reading/writing laser has difficulty with this, in other words. The easiest thing to do is to try another brand, as suggested. Otherwise, you might need to go to Videohelp.com and track whether your particular burner is known to have problems with certain types or brands of discs.

But if you think about it, there are thousands of users out there with no trouble using VS to burn to either + or - or +/- RW. So it is not a problem for VS...

Hi Ken...I kinda agree with the burner area. But why would the DVD-R work fine with VS11.5 and not the update. As far as doing what I did with the family pictures VS has never given me one problem what so ever. That is why I brought the update. I also wanted some of the added new features. I have already deleted the one I made with the update and reinstalled VS11.5 redid the project. But since talking with you and vidoman, I will redo it and try some of the suggestion and get back with you on the out come. BTW, I wasn't knocking down your product, if I didn't like it or believe in it I would have never brought it. I also have the 6 CD SONY Vegas 6 with all the updated which is a total pain in the buttocks to use, it is not user friendly at all and the manual sucks the big weenie..lol This is the main reason I went to VS...I like the lay out better and is more user friendly to me...I'm just a old fart trying to get in trouble...Mike

Just to make something clear, neither Ron/Vidoman, nor I -- nor as far as we are aware, anyone else who helps out in these forums, works for Corel. So it is only 'our' product in the same sense as it is yours. We are all simply volunteer users who have been using different versions of the product over the years and give our time totally voluntarily to try to help out other users. Corel does not seem to pay much attention to the forums, unfortunately, apart from the sticky post near the top of this one which contains people's suggestions for future versions...

But we are lucky...99 percent of the ones selling their product for FSX flight simulator come into our forum and correct and offer 100% of their support.Anyway, I went ahead and re-did a short film of some pictures and added in the same effects as the first one and all the sound...ect..ect..What Vidoman suggested corrected my problem, this one I did as a test only had 5 pictures...the other one had one hundred and sixty five, I will see later on if that made a difference, all went well for XP Pro,Vista64, and Window 7/64. The ALT-N worked fine for getting pass the create disk that one of the members posted in the Windows 7 sticky.
