October now, and a little older and maybe wiser?
Moving the files did work - but I never really got my heart into it, as I wanted to solve the problem here on my machine.
Just swapped out the SOYO mobo and replaced it with an ASUS and now I can create my own backups on miniDV
That's fantastic for me.
Have to admit though - the job of replacing a mobo is easy compared to getting XP to be happy with the swap - it took hours of following false leads to finally figure out that XP had to repaired - using the distribution CD - and then it simply took lots of time for it to scratch its' own back.
I felt compelled to be able to save my HD's and all the work I'd invested - and I did - with a few more gray hairs.
The job is closer to being done, and I appreciate all the help you guys provided.
Thanks
Dave
