Return to Menu at end of chapter

Post by Robert »

Hi all

I want to make a DVD with three (or more) short movie clips (Chapters?? Titles ??) which can be played individually, or from start to finish. I want a menu with a structure something like: Main Page with two buttons - Button 1 to play the whole movie (ie starting with clip 1 and then 2 and 3 until the end), and Button 2 which will take me to a new menu page where I can select individual clips, This page will have one button per clip, and if I select Clip 2 I want Clip 2 to play and then return to the menu (preferably menu page 2) without going on to play Clip3, 4 etc.

At present I am using the trial version of Video Studio to try it out before committing myself to a purchase, but I cannot access a user guide (which I understand only comes with the full version). Therefore I cannot find out how to construct such a menu system, or indeed even find out if such is possible with this product.

Can anyone help please? Does Video Studio (any version) allow a Menu structure as I have described and if so how can I do it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Robert

Straight answer No!

For each video file added to the burner module a thumbnail/link (a title) is created in the main menu page.
The navigation controls, (cogwheel lower left) allows some control.

You can return to menu after selecting any title.
You can play to end after selecting any title.
You can repeat play and play forever, if you wish.(default)

From the main menu page (title page) you can create chapter points associated with each ¡¥title¡¦
This will create a ¡¥sub-menu¡¦ containing the chapter points.
The navigation controls have no effect here.
You can select a chapter point and play, the dvd will play all chapters to the end of the ¡¥title¡¦,
Where the navigation control takes over, playing the rest or returning to menu.

Go to this topic and go down to the third post. There's Steve's link to a manual;

Hi all

Does the new version of Video Studio Pro X4 allow me to do what I want, or is the situation still the same as with the previous version?

Thanks in advance

Still the same. DVD WS2 was the only DVD authoring application from the former Ulead, that was capable of creating playlists. Playlists are the means to map the viewers route. With VS or DVD MF, chapters play to the end of the title in which they're a part of. I think you'll need a high-end DVD authoring app to be able to do what you are looking for. Corel doesn't produce a high-end DVD or Video Editing program.

Ron

Thanks. Not the answer I had hoped for, but thanks anyway.

Cheers
