Wav File Unreadable

I've got a number of wav files that were recorded using Adobe Sound Booth CS4. I can load them into the library and the clip preview works fine, but when I drag them into a project I get a 'file not readable' message.
Is there a spec on the wav files that is required?

Right click on one of the wav files in the library and look at the properties. Then on any project with a video clip that has sound, click Share, then Create Sound file, then on Save as type click options and see if your wav files have the same compression as any of the options. These are the ones that VS supports.

Were they per chance created on a MAC?

Try loading WAV (just drag 'n drop) into SUPER(C)
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html which is free and more than super it is spectacular.
Then double-click on the file and it'll open an 'analysis' screen.
That won't 'fix' anything as such but at least you'll know exactly what you've got.
Maybe compare to other WAVs that do work.
Maybe (likely?) export a new file via SUPER(C) and the file will work. That's assuming that SUPER(C) can read the file which may itself be corrupted in some wacky way.

Creating a Wav using VS.
VS defaults to PCM audio compression at 41.100khz, although there others you can select.
But the question was what are your audio properties?
