Can't burn to dvd

Post by Chapin »

Hi Hope somebody can help?

I have videostudio 8 and the upgrade 9, however, when going through the process to burn my dvd, I get the following message:

writer not connected or no media selected please re-try.

I have tried -R +R discs to no avail, I have had to use mysonic burning software that came with my writer to burn the dvd's.

I am using the following burner:

TEACDW-224E 70A LITEONIT drive, my guess is that this software may be incompatable with ULEAD V9......or do I need an updated drive?

No point me keeping this software if I can't use the menu builders etc.... any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do you by chance have something like Nero's InCD loaded? If so, that could cause a conflict over rights to your burner... I once had a problem similar to yours, but once I uninstalled InCD, the problem went away.

The Sonic software includes a Drive Letter Access (DLA) component, which as Ken mentioned may be causing the conflict. If it can't be shut down or temporarily disabled, you'll may have to uninstall it completely.

DVD burning problems

Post by Chapin »

Thanks Ken and THoff, I don't use nero, I use roxio, I have tried getting a path for the burner, installed that, but now I get doese not recognise windows XP, so yes there is a conflict somewhere, I guess i could rebuild my laptop and start again, but as i have 2 projects that require video, I am going to buy some new software so I can complete my projects before June.

Thanks.

I use Roxio as well, and I know from personal experience that the Drag-To-Disk utility causes a conflict. Luckily, there's an Exit command on the Drag-To-Disk menu that lets you shut the program down prior to burning a disk from UVS -- simply right-click on the Drag-To-Disk icon in the System Tray and select Exit.

Burn to DVD ok now

Post by Chapin »

Hi All
After a few very frustrating days, I finally found a patch on this site, for Service pack 2, installed on my computer and as if by magic all is now well, for version 8, I haven't tried version 9 since my last attempt when everythinh hung, but will report back if all is well.

Must go back to my project.
Cheers :)

problems burning with VS 7

Post by Silumenya »

I've had some problems burning to disk. I'm using VS7. Yes I have SP2 loaded. Yes I have Nero as well.

I have two systems one has a Pioneer DVR106 the other DVR109. I've done the firmware upgrades, I have had problems with blank DVDs (princo - someone has said I would have better luck burning on paper plates) and now use Ritek (these are all single layer).

Since the disks issue, I've had many failures (anyone want a free coaster???). Just to put it all in perspective, the DVR106 had been problemless until princo. Now VS7 is causing problems.

Say I want to burn 3 copies of a "home video" using the US7 utility; The first disk will burn okay and play okay, the other 2 will fail. If I try copy the other disk to make copies 2 & 3 it comes up with errors - can't copy.

I can't really upgrade at this stage to VS9. All the other features of VS7 work fine. Any suggestions???
