Ideal size of still photos for video?

Post by deonholt »

Hi there.

VS X2

What is the recommended size for photos I want to use in VS?
Is 1024 x 678 to big? I have read that photos look crooked when they are to big.

Thanx so long.

Hi Deon

1024 X 576 is the frame size of widescreen 16:9 (pal)

If you want to fill the frame then use an image at 16:9 ratio.

If you want to use Pan and Zoom, then it may be best to increase this, may be double.
But keep the aspect ratio to 16:9

Your image of 1024 x 678 will show a black border left and right.

...And just bear in mind that it is the 16:9 proportion that is important, not the pixel count. If you plan to do pans and, importantly, zooms on the photos, the photos should be probably at least two and possibly more times the basic 16:9 proportions so that they are of higher quality. Otherwise, when you zoom in on lower quality ones, they get very grainy or blocky...
