Good Books for a novice.
Hello everyone, i've just bought my first ever video camera a Samsung R10 and a copy of VS Pro x2, i was wondering if anyone could push me in the right direction of some good books to help me learn the art using the camera and producing some semi decent videos, looking on Amazon there seems to be a large amount of material available i'am just not sure whats good or bad. Thanks for any input.

Hi granpa, and welcome to this forum!
I will leave book recommendations to others... However, it would be very useful if you filled in your System details (in the Profile button up towards the top of the page). This will help others should you have any problems in future. I say this because you may not realise that the format used by your camera (full high definition 1920 x 1080 using the H.264 codec) is just about the most demanding of computer resources currently available. So you need a fairly powerful computer to edit it and play it back smoothly.
Judging by the You Tube link you posted in the Members Samples forum, though, your computer seems well up to the job. Well done!!

search for others by the same author as well.
I will say he is a friend of mine and I have read his books and they are great for beginners, you can see pictures I shot with my cam whilst skiing, in them!!!!!

Thanks for putting in all those details, granpa! I notice you are using Windows 7. You may not realise (if you have not yet used the VS burning module) that it does not work properly (the burning module, I mean) with Win 7. We have in fact started a sticky thread on this: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=181998#181998 You might want to keep your eye on it.

It's here:skier-hughes wrote:Odd I don't see any from Figgis, it is Colin Barrett.
Can't link to the page but put Mike Figgis into the search box and it comes up with this:
"Digital Film Making
By Mike Figgis"
I clicked on Books and it was on the front page before the Colin Barrett book!

Hi Graham
I wasn't searching books specifically. When I opened your link there were six book titles showing, none were the one you mentioned. Everytime I clicked on the link a different set of books came up so I searched for "Digital filming" and came up with the list showing the Figgis book. At the bottom right where it says visitors also looked at: That's where the Colin Barrett book was listed. Anyway I am going into hospital soon and have today purchased the Colin B book to read while I recover (hopefully).
