Unable to preview in X2 pro video studio
Hi I have recently purchased X2 Pro have added the patch and a Microsoft DivX suggested by Corel. I have made a movie which I can burn to DVD but in the process am unable to Preview either at the template/intro page or at the Remote Preview. I am mainly using JPEG photos in my composition and am only a novice so if replied could be straight forward and not technical this would be appreciated. Any ideas???
javascript:emoticon(':?:') Yes I did mean Direct X Sorry

Please try updating your DirectX, as that cures many preview problems.

Did you try a re-install after updating your DirectX? Worked for me after a similar problem.

Unable to preview in X2 pro video studio
Thanks for that suggestion. I will uninstal and reinstal and see if the Direct X addition has helped.
Hello everyone..Black Lab wrote:Did you try a re-install after updating your DirectX? Worked for me after a similar problem.
Thanks for the valuable info..
I have just bought and installed VS-X2 and had the same problem with preview during Share to DVD etc..
Updating DirectX cured the problem but during the download/installation, I noticed a silly situation, waiting to catch us all out.
Microsoft's instructions for this download are;-
In the File Download dialog box, do one of the following:
To start the installation immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.
To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk
Whether you run the downloaded file from the download, or by double clicking directx_mar2009_redist.exe, this only extracts the files to the designated folder.
It Does NOT install the directX update.
You then need to open the folder that the files were extracted to and double click DXSETUP.exe. This will then install the DirectX update.
If you are still getting the problem after downloading the DirectX update, I suggest that you close Video Studio, open the folder where the files were extracted to and double click DXSETUP.exe. Follow the on screen instructions until the installation is finished and then and re-start Video Studio
In my case, no reinstall of VS-X2 was needed, neither was a reboot.
I hope this helps someone
Regards

Hi Mike, I could kiss you!!!! I have downloaded the Direct X using your instructions. Mind you I had already gone to the trouble of uninstalling in a very scary lengthy fashion as advised by Corel and reinstalled all to no avail and now I know why..... I now am able to preview at the illustration of the remote and at other screens. I do have another problem with the multi-clip. I have imported a short dvd and I select multi-clip, it appears to work marking off the sections and allows me to preview the cut version but when I click the OK nothing happens. I am hoping that this may just be the case of a wrong preference chosen. I may, in my attempt to get the preview to work have changed one of the defaults. Any suggestion from your teacher!!
Thanks again, Rae

I am pleased to have helped..
I have just Checked the Multi-Trim on VS-X2 and mine is the same..
I set up various Cuts and clips but neither the OK or Cancel buttons work. I think this may be a bug in VS-X2 as I have also tested it in VS-10 and VS-11.5 and it all works perfectly.
I personally don't like the multi-trim module, I get on better with using the scissors on the time-line. It is Frame accurate and less Querky than multi-trim. Once you get used to using the time-line zoom control, it becomes easy.
Maybe someone else can assist with the Non working OK and Cancel buttons in Multi-Trim

I believe this is a genuine bug in VS-X2.
By experimenting, I have found;-
*Press the Enter Key it will do the same as the OK Button should.
*Press the Escape Key. It will do the same as the Cancel Button should

Direct X download
Hi again, I did have a question re your response and directions to load Direct X. You say double click on DXSETUP.exe mine came up as DXSETUP only - no .exe. Also there is another set up file DSETUP.dll there and I wondered if this should also have been installed. Apparently the dll stands for dynamic link library. Could you perhaps ask your learned teacher.
Hi,
The DSETUP.DLL will be installed by the Install Process which happens when you double click DXSETUP(.EXE)
You will probably find that Windows has chosen to not show the extension (.exe) for DXSETUP.EXE
If, when you double click the DXSETUP file, it starts the installation process, then it IS the correct file and all other files will be installed as required by your actual system, requirements.
(If you right click on the file and select properties, it will probably show the full file title)

Found this recently:
"How do you check which version of DirectX is on your system: click the Start menu, then choose Run. In the box type dxdiag and press Enter on your keyboard. A new Window will appear and your version of DirectX will be listed at the bottom."
Mine, with the latest patch, says "DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)"
Also, regarding MultiTrim, I've had the same "OK" problems. I just kept clicking and it finally worked. I'll try the "Enter" next time. Thanks.
Also, regarding MultiTrim: Is there an easy way to save all clips as separate files (without doing them one by one)?

Way to save seperate clips as files
When I have used Multiclip in the past it clips your video/movie/dvd into the number of segments you want and the small sections go straight into your time line when you click OK (that is if you are able to). I don't know why you could not click on them and save a copy. I cannot check it out for you at the moment as the OK button does not work and I only have x2 pro on my computer.
