Fix for "Failed to create dynamic HTML component"

Post by scannist »

With reference to the following error that can occur when using Photoimpact XL on an XP SP2 computer (may be with other versions of PI and or OS for all I know):

Here is the error message verbatim:

Failed to create dynamic HTML component. Please make sure you have installed Internet Explorer version 5 or above.
[800:228:380]

The fix:

Click Window's "Start" then "Run" and execute the following two lines in the "Open" field:

regsvr32 "C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\MicrosoftShared\Triedit\Dhtmled.ocx"
regsvr32 "C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\MicrosoftShared\Triedit\Triedit.dll"

Note the quotation marks must be used as indicated.

No thanks to Ulead's amateur support... After numerous emails, they continued to "punt" the problem... (Thank you and have a nice day!)

I had to figure this out on my own. :x

And I don't mind saying... no help from this forum either. My previous posts on this problem went completely unanswered.

I'm getting the same problem in PhotoImpact 10. When I try running the string you have posted I get the following error:

Load Library ("C\Program")failed-The specific module could not be found.

Am I doing this right? Beacuse I don't think the string you typed in is correct. I'm thinking the quotation marks you put in and also shouldn't the be spaces between the word 'program' and 'files', 'common' and 'files', and 'Microsoft' and 'Shared'. These are the actual locations of the files.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Triedit

You're right on the "location" aspect.

But I definately had to use the quotation marks as noted.

Any further questions should be made to Ulead support. Be forewarned, their first piece of advice will be to completely uninstall and reinstall Photoimpact. After that doesn't work, they'll want you to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer. And they don't give any support or detail specific to the error on screen and no specific references to the Microsoft files they are using -- you have to figure that out on your own.

Past that, I don't know what they'll recommend -- presumably to reformat the hard disk and reinstall Windows from scratch. Knowing that was coming and not wanting to go that final route, I took matters into my own hands and wasted a ton of time investigating the problem.

FWIW, I'm switching over to Adobe Photoshop in the near term -- better support.[/code]

Thank you for finding the solution. I had this problem with PI 10.

I agree that ULEAD tech service could have been more helpful in finding a solution to this. After all, they should be aware which windows components are needed for this to work. It is inexcusable to be given the standard line most of the times.

Having said all that, I would like to express, not only mine but our thanks to scannist, hopefully I speak for all of us, for posting this possible solution here.

@scannist, I wish you luck and, hopefully, better support with PS.

I have included this fix in the new sticky for known fixes
