Where can I find a list of Video and Audio Filters

Post by GeorgeK »

RE: denoise filter in VS9 - is that a good solution for blockies

I read on this board that some one had a "denoise" filter.

I have not noticed a "denoise" filter with UVS9 (but very much want to use it).

Then I realised that I do not have a list of the filters which have or should have come with UVS9.

Three questions;
1) How do I locate a "denoise" video filter (ie where in UVS9 is it located, under what name) ?

2) Is there a list of video filters that come with UVS9.

3) if a list exists, does it explain what each of the video filters do?

Question 1 - The denoise filter is located in a folder called 'vft_plug' located in the C:\program files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideStudio 9.0\ it is called 'DeNoise.vft'

Question 2 - don't know about a definitive list but I have :-

AutoEnhance.vft
autolevel.vft
average.vft
b&c.vft
balance.vft
blur.vft
charcoal.vft
CoIorAdjust.vft
colorpen.vft
Colorsff.vft
Comic.vft
Cropping.vft
DeNoise.vft
defract.vft
diffuseglow.vft
DuoTone.vft
emboss.vft
hue.vft
invert.vft
kaleido.vft
lensflare.vft
light.vft
lightning.vft
mirror.vft
mono.vft
mosaic.vft
oilpaint.vft
oldfilm.vft
PanZoom.vft
pinch..vft
PtBubble.vft
ptCloud.vft
PtRain.vft
punch.vft
ripple.vft
sharp.vft
star.vft
StepMotion.vft
Steptime.vft
throwstn.vft
VideopanZoom.vft
vignette.vft
waterclr.vft
waterflw.vft
whirlpol.vft
wind.vft
zMotion.vft

Some of these appear as slightly different names in the thumbnails.

Question 3 - don't know of any list giving who does what info.

ALSO - there appears to be 47 listed there but I only have 45 thumbnails showing in the library panel - if I get a minute I'll try and find which ones are not showing and why.

I'm having a similar problem and not sure what to do. I've sent email to support, but haven't heard back yet.

I own VS8 and have updated all that can be updated.

I was reading the help file and discovered that I could zoom. Immediately I looked for the feature in the filters. It wasn't there! In fact, when compared to the vft_plug folder, many effects don't show up in my effects library.

It looks like all the .dll files are there. And all the .vft files are there. But they don't appear where they're needed or can be used!

Any ideas? I've been at this for hours and hours!

I've removed the .vft files, then replaced them again, starting VS8 inbetween the removal and restoration.

Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

As already has been stated, no. I would like one, too. However, if you open the filter library and pay attention to the names (along with a little experimentation) it won't take long to assess what filters are available and what they do.

Software documentation has really gone down the drain over the past few years. Publication costs are just too high, I guess.

It's there, except it's named "Pan and Zoom" and it's a feature you have to select on the IMAGE tab in edit mode - it's only for still images, not videos, so you won't find it in the filter library.

Good luck,

Right, Pan and Zoom. Thanks much! I found it.

Bummer I can't use it for video, as I had hoped. But it's nice to know that it's there.

I'd love to be able to blur or pixelate someone's face in a video application - like broadcasters do in "hidden-camera" investigations.

I appreciate the quick response and explanation. Thanks!

You can do that with 3rd party software. Go to . . .

http://www.stagetools.com/

. . . and look for the plug-in named "Moving Parts." Once you're on that page, scroll down and you'll see Monica Lewinsky in the blurred face example. The plug-in is pricey, but not if you really have a use for it.

Good luck,

Emmkayeff -- VS9 does allow you to pan and zoom in video as well as still pictures; but in VS 8 it is only for stills.
