MF7 "Cancel"-button doesn't work when creating DVD

Post by D.E. »

When MF7 stops for no reason or an error occured because my external drive was accidentally removed while the last step, stupid MF7 only counts elapsed time and I can't cancel it.
That's very sad, because I have to kill the task and re-open MF7 and make the whole menu-creation-step again because after joining two DV-.avi-files (which are "multi-trimmed" and have chapters), creating a menu and all and then saving the project, I can't reload it. MF7 freezes after loading the saved project..it can't handle the two joined .avis. Well, but that's another bug.
What is that "Cancel"-button for? Is there a hidden menu with "Activate Cancel-button"?

Well... A good program shouldn't crash (or stop for no reason). But when it does, it's behavior becomes unpredictable... After a program has crashed, I'm not surprised if none of the buttons work!
What is that "Cancel"-button for?
Does the cancel button work when Movie Factory hasn't crashed? (I haven't tried it.)

Most crashes & freezes are driver related. I've heard that adding or removing an external drive can cause problems with some running programs... I think it's a problem with Windows or the drivers, but it could be a bug in Movie Factory.

Especially when it's the drive with MovieFactory's working folder and target for the DVD-Folder
Yes, there was a fatal error "what-the-hell-did-you-do"-like window but anyway, after clicking it, MF7 was only counting the elapsed time and seemed to react on input (Cancel-button animated when I hit it) but just does nothing. Okay, removing the drive is too stupid to discuss any longer but the stopping for no reason is a problem...

If you removed a hard drive whilst the computer was still running and possibly accessing that drive - especially if it was performing a write to disk task, then you are lucky that at the very least the drive is still working and technically it is possible for such an event to render your entire computer unusable.
