Are you planning on removing Photo Impact from the web board forum index?
:?: :?: :?:

Please explain what it is your are talking about - where has this idea of removing PhotoImpact from the Web Board originated from?

There was a product named, not discussed.
I don't think it's too much regarding the fact that PI's development is most probably dead.

Another trigger happy admin... :/

If you are referring to the deleted post then sorry but 2 + 2 do not = 5.

I'd love to have Corel prove me wrong, but I'm sure PhotoImpact is dead.

I mentioned Ulead's history of innovation in this article, board members here may find it interesting:

I really hope it's not dead. I use it since the beginning.

Here are some of my recent works:

If they make a new version compatible with PS brushes, then it will be a WIN on the market.

I wished I had just half your talent!! Those are great!! Too bad Corel doesn't see things like this when they make decisions. Well just look at this way, if you already have PI working on a system, there's no reason you can not continue using it. I know PIX3 works just fine on my Vista machine, and I've no immediate plans for upgrading to Win7. Just put the blinders on and keep creating..

??? but there are threads regarding photos..p is this also a product of ulead/corel? ;)

Well, I can mention that I use product xyz and I'm very satisfied with this change - is this allowed?

Since photoimpact is dead I thought it would be helpfull for all the disappointed users to find a REALLY alternative for PI.

What a horrible thing to do... buy up the competition, discontinued the superior software leaving as the only option an inferior software. I hope someone buys the PhotoImpact name and continues to develop the software or at least pickup where Ulead left off using a different name.

Signing out for the last time! I will never buy software from this company again!

Corel killed Photoimpact and gives its users no choices ?

Post by jolo »

This is the weirdest thing. I use PhotoImpact X3.
When I opened it up today, there was a message windows offering mw an upgrade to Photoimpact X3 for $24.95.
Huh ???????

It seems dead.

Are there ant comporable products being offered by Corel OR are their any products that have the same type quality and versatility as Photoimpact X3, in the market place ?? I've used it for so long.

Huh? What version of Photoshop are you using? When I try to open UFO files in PS/CS3, it chokes with a "not the right kind of document" error?

I have used PI since V3 and would love it to continue. However, I am resolved to it being discontinued (tooo many graphics editors in Corel's stable). It is still the fastest and easiest product to perform quick, basic photo functions.

But, I am thinking of moving to PSP Ultimate (can get it pretty cheap - around $45), but it won't open UFO files, either. I will probably work through converting every UFO to PSD so that *ANYTHING* can open them. Photoshop is still tooo complicated to use and I simply don't have the time to learn/master it. I played with the TBYB of PSP and found that I could at least reconfigure the keyboard to mimic PI to the point of it not being too difficult to use and it is very powerful, for the price.

The ONLY program that can edit a UFO file is PhotoImpact.
If Corel intend to merge PhotoImpact and Paint shop Pro - and I don't know if they intend to or not - I do not work for them, I am just a customer like yourselves, then they would have to ensure that whichever program they retain must include the UFO format.

ALL of the Corel DVD authoring programs past and present work with DVD Menu templates that MUST be in the UFO file format.

PI and Windows 7 (and XP mode)

Post by ACeleste »

Anyone know if PI X3 works in Windows 7? If not, how about Windows 7 in XP mode?

Thanks

I just checked PhotoImpact X3 on a Virtual Box running Windows 7 Release Candidate. It works.

Only thing of note is that in Windows Explorer - UFO files only show as icons and not as thumbnails, not a big problem though because PhotoImpact has its own built in file browser.

I have PI X3 installed on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and so far it seems to be running ok. I haven't done anything extensive with it but so far it seems to work.
