I think it is more likely than unlikely that Corel will provide any necessary update patches to VS12.
Versions prior to VS12 will be a case of wait and see.
Going by the Corel Website's currently available update patches I can see that they supply patches for the current version and the preceding version only.
(12 & 11) - anything earlier than that they simply provide the user manuals.

It therefore seems feasible that this trend will continue.
Next version?

Well I am running windows 7 RC. Installed VS pro.
The 1st thing I noticed was VS does not crash or hang as in Vista.
Windows 7 will be next best stable OS after XP.
They have removed all the bells & whistles retaining the most stable component of Vista and best of XP
There is no movie maker and as SJJ said no browsers as well.
We should seeing less of service packs and hot fixes

Babdi -- please note that we started a sticky thread on Win 7 and VS some weeks ago. If you have any specific comments about the interaction between the new OS and VS, please post them there to ensure continuity... See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=181998#181998

Upgrade from UVS 11.5 to VS X2?
I kindly ask your opinion: apart from HD editing, is it worth upgrading from UVS 11.5 to UVS 12? Are the new features important enough to pay for the latest release of UVS?

That is a question that only you yourself can answer.
Whilst it is *nice* to own the latest version of anything, it is not always necessary. Taking as an example Vista/XP/Windows 7 operating systems already mentioned above. If your computer does all that you ask of it you then have to ask yourself what you hope to gain by upgrading either an operating system or the software you run upon it.
People who do things for a living and serious hobbyists are more likely to upgrade than the casual user - someone who perhaps only gets the camcorder out for holidays and birthday parties.
Your best bet with this and any other software that you may be thinking of upgrading is to try out the free trials that are available to decide for yourself.

Use of UVS 11.5 and UVS Pro X2 at the same time
Is it possible to have on my computer both UVS 11.5 and UVS Pro X2 at the same time? How to avoid possible conflicts between the two versions, if any?

Quite a few of us in fact have X3, X2, VS 11.5+ and even earlier versions on the same computer, without conflicts. Of course, you can only open one version at a time.
As far as VS11.5+ and X2 are concerned, they install in completely different folders in your Program Files. X2 installs in a Corel folder, while VS11.5+ installs in a Ulead Systems folder...

Re: Use of UVS 11.5 and UVS Pro X2 at the same time
If you're still running WinXP, you should have no problems having both installed as Ken pointed out. Currently on my WinXP machine I have installed; VideoStudio versions 8, 9, 10+, 11.5+, X2 Pro (12), Pro X3 (13), MediaStudio Pro 8, DVD Movie Factory versions 5+, 6+, 7 Pro, . At one time I even had VS 5 installed with all the above.jcsaba wrote:Is it possible to have on my computer both UVS 11.5 and UVS Pro X2 at the same time?
