No default Printer Installed error

Post by paul56 »

Hi. When attempting to use Print Layout in PSP 8 I get an error message 'No default Printer Installed'. I never had this with PSP on another machine.

I only use one printer and that is indeed the default. Any ideas please? I can't find anything on this forum.

I don't have PSP 8, but I've heard of that issue with Windows machines - usually cured with restarting the computer. Have you tried that yet?

Hi Paul,

You might try - just in case you haven't already - making sure you have the latest 8.10 patch for PSP8. You can get it here:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 8716792403

I found at least 1 discussion about the type of problem you had which appears to have been resolved by this patch.

Beyond that, go to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, select to start uninstalling PSP8 and I believe a box will pop up actually giving you the option to "Repair" as well as "Uninstall". Try "Repair" first - y'never know ;-)

A bit of Googling did find me actually a fair few discussions about the same error condition which folks had fixed by uninstalling and re-installing PSP8. Annoying, but if nothing else works it does sound as though doing Uninstall-Reinstall might well do the trick.

Good luck,
Alli

Many thanks - the update worked! Now why didn't I think of that? I was still at 8.0 and the Control Panel repair did not work.

Oh-ho - great stuff! I'll make a note of that: PSP 8.10 patch = "a good 'un" ;-)
