VS9 can't customize WMV's

Post by jsniper »

When I am done editing my video I click on "share" and then "Create Video File". I want to create a 640x480 very high quality wmv video so I choose "custom" and then "wmv" in the drop down box and give it a file name. I then click on "options" and then "profile" and choose any of the choices as a basis to start with and then I click on "customize" again and then those same choices of predefined choices come up and they all start with "Windows Media Video 8....blah blah" but there is no such thing as copy, create new, edit, or anything like there was before. Where did these setting go? I have the same exact (paid for) Ulead version 9 on my PC at work and it works fine and shows the edit, copy, new etc. My home PC has Windows XP SP2 and the PC at work has Windows XP SP1 if that matters. I tried updating windows media player to version 10 and then back down to version 9 and it made no difference as I suspected it wouldn't. I uninstalled video studio and re-downloaded it from their website via the link in the email they sent me after I paid and it still does not have the customs options like before. It seems like I remember seeing some other choices in the "custom" area such as Neptune best and some other Neptune choices as well as some wmv 9 choices. Now all I can see is wmv 8 choices and that's all.

All I can think of is that you are running with reduced user priviledges -- try logging in as Administrator.

My user account has administrator rights. Btw, I am a network administrator at my job.

UPDATE!!!!

You must have Windows Media Encoder installed on your computer. I noticed that my work PC has it but my home PC did not. I searched on google for "windows media encoder" and went to that microsoft page and downloaded it. I installed it and it's working perfect.
