Video Studio Pro x2 video capture problem

Post by Wallyl »

Listed below is a copy of an e-mail sent to Corel. I have been trying to resolve this problem for several weeks. The problem is that Video Studio Pro x2 will not allow me to copy a VHS tape for editing. Their solution has been to copy in another program and then edit the file in VS. I have advised them that this was not acceptable, they have responded that there are some USB capture devices that will work. Thos devices are not available. The last patch from them did indicate a device that can be bought however there are 2 versions of the device. I wrote them with the information written below and was advised to call terh support which I did. They couldn't help me. I was told to try and get an answer from a forum, this I protested to. I was then told the question would go to their developers and could not guarantee an answer.
I'm writing this hoping someone may have an answer.
Thank you

I am still trying to find a device to successfully create a digital file. My research has found that Video Studio recognizes Kworld USB Video capture device, however your site information doesn't indicate the model. I am unable to find the device as listed, however there are a few models. Please let me know which is the correct model listed below..
KWorld Xpert DVD Maker USB 2.0 Video Capture
KWorld USB 2.0 Stick Video Capture & Editing

Moved to VideoStudio forum

The last couple of versions of VS had problems capturing from analog sources. Corel's advice to use other software to capture is probably your best bet. Look into WinDV, or even Microsoft's MovieMaker. Capture in DV-AVI format then import your clips into VS for editing.
