Have had no problems before, but for some reason when I've now tried to capture home videos on ULEAD Videostudio 5.0 recently, the picture I get on screen in 'capture' mode is distorted/jerky/shaky and so there's been no point trying to capture home movies for editing at the moment until I get this resolved. The sound is fine; it's just the shaky image that is something that I never used to get before when capturing footage from my Sony DV camcorder to my PC using Videostudio 5.0.
I cannot figure out why this is now happening and so wondered if anyone has any ideas on how I resolve.
I’ve uninstalled and then reinstalled ULEAD and got the latest patches from the Ulead website, but this seems to make no difference and I still get the distorted/jerky/shaky picture when capturing from my DV camcorder to my PC using Ulead VideoStudio5.0. I don’t really want to have to reinstall Windows XP rom scratch and have to reinstall all my software programs etc.
I currently have Windows XP Pro with an Intel Celeron processor (1.20 GHz), Windows Media Player 10, Cyberlink Power DVD, Real Player and Quicktime. Don't know if one of the media players is conflicting with ULEAD and hence it's causing the image problem.
The settings I'm using each time for capturing from my DV camcorder with ULEAD Videostudio 5.0 are: -
Microsoft AVI Files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- PAL, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
My current hard disk has used 15GB with 23 GB spare.
Any ideas or suggestions on how I can resolve this...Is it something to do with a lack of memory on my PC or conflict between various drivers like Windows Media Player, Real Player etc ???

The video monitor during capture is always a bit off because the priority is given to actually capturing the video frames and your CPU is a bit slow. Enable the dropped frame counter in Preferences menu to see how capture is doing. Capture in small chunks of 5 - 15 minutes, braking at blooper points. The video will look a lot better in Edit mode. Read the top post for recommended workflow procedure that will keep you out of trouble. Consider upgrading to 9.0.
