First, Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

Are you aware that PSP X2 installs a anti-piracy program called Protexis Licensing? It must be running in order for PSP to launch and work. Right-click on your My Computer icon, and select Manage. Then go to Services and scroll down to Protexis Licensing, and make sure it is started. If not click on the Start the service.

That may not be the issue, however without a little more info it's difficult to say at this time what the problem might be. Do you get any error messages while trying to launch it? You might have a look at your Windows Logs, found in the Windows Event Viewer. This is also accessed through the Computer Management.

Try holding down the shift key as you start PSP. Click "OK" on the dialogue box that asks if you want to restore PSP to its default state.

You can find instructions for completely removing and reinstalling at http://support.corel.com/scripts/rightn ... qid=762149.
Also remove the organizer cache files as set out at http://support.corel.com/scripts/rightn ... qid=762111. Check for and remove both XI and X2 type cache files.
I'm not sure how much help that will be though... it sounds as if something more than just a damaged PSP installation is wrong. It is certainly worth trying.

It seems to be related to the driver for something like a USB flash drive that uses chips manufactured by Prolific Technology. Might be a USB pen drive that you needed to install a driver to get some extra feature, like automatic backup or security.

The 12.01 update does fix several problems, but you'll then get an annoying, but not in anyway important, error message when you eject a CD or DVD. I'd install the update.
If you use X2's Organizer, then it's best to put up with the inconvenience of having to cancel a message box when you eject a disc. If you don't use the Organizer, see http://support.corel.com/scripts/rightn ... qid=762232.

I don't use the Organizer but do use Lightroom 2.5. I just switched to Vista Ultimate from XP and initially had the problem with updates to PSP X2 Photo Ultimate which required the press shift key solution mentioned above. After getting the Paint Shop Pro running all seemed to work well until I tried using the "EDIT IN" function of Lightroom to place a tiff file into Paint Shop Pro. When Paint Shop Pro tries to launch it freezes at the "initializing structures" point and then won't restart until I again start PSP with the shift key as mentioned above. When I used XP this worked without problems but I was using the older PSP X2 Photo (no ultimate).
I need this function and get tired of reseting my preferences when it locks.
I have been using PSP for a long time (all versions with manuals since v3) and would like to get past this problem if possible.
