Inserting Titles

Post by teafornosps »

I'm creating a slide show of still images with titles and audio using VS 12.0.98.0. I find that I can insert images into the timeline; but I cannot insert a title related to that image into the project title line. Also, if I lengthen the duration of an image somewhere on my story board; I cannot lengthen the corresponding title or move the corresponding title.

Will appreciate any thoughts....................... :D

Title management

Post by Ken Veal »

With the image in the preview window, click on the Title tab (at the top)then double click on the image to insert a title.
In the time line view (not storyboard) you will see a representation of your inserted title.Put the cursor over that and then you can drag it into place below your image. To adjust its length "pull" one of the yellow lines
after you have selected it and the title time will adjust as required to fit the image............................Ken

Always do the titles last of all....after you are happy with the editing of the images and the timing with the music.

If it's too late for that you can try using the Ripple editing but you will have to sacrifice the timing with the music/audio in order to maintain the titles with each image. You will have to choose which issue will be less time consuming

Like Ken said above....to adjust length/duration of title click on the title and two yellow handle bars will appear on each end of the clip in the timeline. Click and drag to adjust.

Let's say I have (3) images 1M, 2M, 3M and (3) titles 1T, 2T, 3T. If I click on 2M, I get (2) vertical yellow bars at each end of the image, which I can use to lengthen/shorten the image. If I then click on 2T, I get (2) vertical yellow bars at each end of the title. If I place the cursor on one of yellow bars, I get a black direction arrow. But when I click and try to drag, the title will not lengthen or shorten. 2T remains stuck at it's original length. From your email, it almost sounds like my version of the software has a bug. Thoughts?

Instead of changing the duration by dragging the trim handles, try actually entering a time in the box next to the Preview Window.

Hi Richard

Resizing the images is possible when the images are adjacent (Touching)
Unfortunately:-
When resizing ¡¥Titles¡¦ there has to be space on the timeline to drag the trim bars, or to change the clock duration.

If this the case:-

Try dragging all titles to the library to make a copy.
Delete the titles from the timeline.
Insert titles one at a time from the library.

Note:- you can re-size the titles in the library by changing the duration in the digital clock.

Also:-

You can change the default duration of titles and images from File ¡V Preferences.

Title length

Post by Ken Veal »

You cant lengthen a title if it is sandwiched between two others. How about
moving the titles away from each other then adjusting the images length,
drag the Ist title back to below the Ist image then repeat with the last two
individually so that all the titles are the same length as the image they belong to.

The software will not allow me to change the timing in the duration field next to Preview.

This is certainly a work around, which I've tried and it works. The problem is that from time to time a relative of mine discovers an old photo and emails it to me, which should be included into the presentation
(creating life story). In this case, I can't insert the image with a title where I need to in the presentation. If I were only working with a few images, this work around would be fine. However, having to recreate the entire presentation using titles from the title library, consisting of hundreds of photos is very time consuming.

It has been suggested that I use Ripple Editing. I'm new to Corel, so haven't tried that feature. Perhaps it will work for me.

Good grief............I never thought of trying Ripple Editing. I just tried it and it seems to accomplish just what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the suggestion.

Hi Richard

Now I understand what your trying to do, and Ripple Editing is probably your best option.
Can be a little confusing in its use, doing things you didn¡¦t really expect, gets better with use.

A few more options to try.
If you want to move multiple titles you can use Shift + Click to select adjacent clips and drag the lot down the timeline.

If you wish to resize multiple images you can do that as well.
Select the images using Shift + Click
From the top Menu-Clip-Change Image/colour Duration

Hope this helps
