Videostudio 11 Plus Aspect Ratio Problem

Purchased this last year and haven't used it much.
My problem is that when I capture a video in 16:9 mode using composite video, in the capture screen, the video fills the window 100%, corner to corner as it should. The video is 16:9 as its coming from my widescreen TV.

But when I go to the edit screen, it plays back with black bars at the bottom and top. Fills the screen left to right, but vertically compresses the video. Project playback properties are 16:9 as well.

Tried stretching it in video attributes but the lines show it as full screen already.

That's helpful.
Apparently I did everything right.
Confusing because the capture window is 1.85:1
The edit window is apparently 2.35:1 (or thereabouts) so the top and bottom bars appear.
Did a quick test burn and the DVD was back to 1.85:1 filling the widescreen TV display.
