How can i make the size smaller ? can i convert the output files ?

You need to reduce the bitrate of your video. Higher bitrate = higher quality = larger file size. Lower bitrate = lower quality = smaller file size. You want to find the balance between quality and file size. Since you are starting out with VHS you can probably start with a fairly low bitrate (5,000 kbps), as you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, as they say.

Read the following tutorial, From Camcorder to DVD, paying particular attention to the Project Settings section.
