I use a SONY Z1E in HD for filming. This outputs to enable CAPTURE in normal DV. During edit the sound appears completely OK and lip syncs great with the mouth movements of the subjects, BUT when I create a DVD (Create Disc) the AUDIO gradually gets further and further OUT with the video - since much of the content is people speaking and facial closeups this looks really poor.
Am I doing something wrong here or is it just a poor editing suite ?
My system is very high end in all aspects (3Ghz, 4GB Ram, twin 750GB drives for work and storage and good standard DVD writing decks.
Any help appreciated - if I cannot resolve this I will have to junk the software and find soemthing that works in this respect.
Many thanks
John

I suspect you are doing your editing in DV format, and then when you have finished editing, you jump straight to the burning module (Share > Create Disc > DVD). This means that the DV format project is what appears in the burning timeline, and the conversion to DVD-compatible mpeg-2 takes place as a part of a larger and already complicated enough burning process. We generally recommend against this workflow, though it works for some. For others, out of sync video and audio is common.
Instead, when you finish editing, choose Share > Create Video File > DVD if the project is less than one hour long. That will then produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 file of your project while still in the editing module. Check it to make sure the video and audio are in sync.
Once that new file is produced and tested to your satisfaction, choose File > New Project. Don't worry about giving the new project a name -- the objective is just to clear the timeline of the existing project (which you should have saved beforehand).
Then choose Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will open and you insert your new mpeg-2 file. Click on the central icon in the bottom left of the burning screen and make sure the little box beside 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked. That way, no further conversion will take place during the burning process.
Build your menu, and burn. You could first burn it to a +/-RW disc, or depending what other programs you have, you could 'burn' a DVD folder instead. That is the Video_TS folder you find on final video DVDs. It can be played on software DVD players like WinDVD or Power DVD or Nero ShowTime. That way you can test the final product before actually committing it to disc.

Many thanks to you Ken Berry
Ken - you kindly responded to my post concerning Video Studio and sound synch problems I was having when creating DVD final materials.
Your advice worked to perfectiuon and now I am consistently getting correct output properly synch'd.
I could have spent many more hours getting nowhere and would have probably given up with Video Studio and probably soughtan alternative product - but you have saved my bacon on both counts.
Your assistance is very much appreciated and I thank you for taking the trouble to respond initially.
Regards
John
