Transistion Effects

I am sure that I am not doing some thing simple to create the issue.

When I add a transistion effect such as page turn between two clip it seems to shorten the clip on the left of the time line of the effect.

I had a test video of about two minutes with five clips. When I place the transistion between the clips the length shortened to about 1 minute and 45 seconds. The transistions are 3 seconds in length.

I would of thought that the length would of increased not decreased.

What am I doing wrong? Thank you

Nothing. If you think about it logically, a transition is simply the overlapping of two clips.

If you are using vX2 this is easy to see, as you can insert transitions by manually overlapping clips.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am new to the video editing world.

I will have to take into account the transistion length when putting clips together.

It is one reason we suggest leaving the addition of background music to the last. That way you will know exactly how long the music needs to be in particular parts, as you will by then have added transitions (which shorten the video) and titles, stills etc (which lengthen it).
