I just purchased a new system from Dell which came loaded with Vista Home Premium.
Until now I've been running XP on my old system.
After installing my PhotoImpact 12 from CD I've had problems I've never had before with this program so I assume they are OS related.
I downloaded the latest PI-12 update for Vista but it didn't help.
1. Screen Capture no longer works at all. I assigned the F11 key to do the capture but nothing happens. The F11 changes function so I know the feature is enabled, but pressing it does nothing.
2. I can't load some jpg images into PI
Even some images I've created with PI-12 won't load. It's totally random and I can't figure out why it only affects some jpeg images.
If I take the images not loading on my new computer and load them into my old computer, I can save them as a bmp file then load them back into my new computer which fixes the problem.
Obviously I don't want to do that all the time.
I can view the problem images on my new computer, but when I do a "file" - "open" - I get an error message "Unable to open file".
I've also noticed these problem images show as thumbnails in the Open box, but when I select the image, it doesn't appear in the "preview" area beside the "file information". The file information is displayed correctly.
These are images I've loaded into PhotoImpact 12 many times before on my old system without issue.
There are no issues with GIF images.
Upgrade to Vista

Let us hope that Micro$oft make a better job of Windows 7 to be released later this year.
Regarding Screen Capture.
The Method I always use is to either:
1. Press the [Print Screen] key to grab the entire screen, then you can simply paste as a new image in PhotoImpact.
2. To grab "Just a Window" press the [Alt] Key at the same time as pressing the [Print Screen] Key. Again simply paste as a new image in PhotoImpact.
Don't know the answer to your problem opening jpg files in Vista, mine seem to open OK when using Vista, but having said that I tend to use PhotoImpact X3 with Vista, and rarely use Vista anyway - having set all of my computers to dual boot with XP.
