"Yankee" Single Picture Tube Query ?April 2009

Post by the ink monitor »

Have only just joined this forum (hope someone can answer my Tags Problem!) but read the one above about single picture tube graphics, and this is the answer that I have used many a time.

What you need to do is to create your own picture tube taken from the installed picture tubes in PSP.

So, take the Butterflies for example, of which there are six, and say you wanted to use only one of them. This is how I do it:

New File 500x500 pixels Raster Transparent (it MUST be transparent)

Select your Picture Tube and set as follows:
Scale:100 Step:500 (max.- we don't want rapid fire!) Placement:Random Selection:Incremental

Then 'paint' single butterflies and undo until you have the one you want on its own in the middle of your 500x500 file.
Now crop the excess background and rotate the butterfly if necessary.

Now, go File-Export-Picture Tube and you should get up an Export Picture Tube menu.
Leave everything as per the default EXCEPT you MUST give you new tube a name, so make it, say, something you will recognise easily i.e. One Butterfly or Yellow Butterfly etc.

Job done!

Now open a new file, action Picture Tubes and there yours will be (remember they are in alphabetical order).
Simple!

You can also create your own multiple Picture Tubes just like the PSP ones from virtually anything (photos, logos, numbers etc. etc.) but you have to arrange them in cells which needs to match the cells across and down in the Export Picture Tube menu. Give it a whirl - its great fun!
