Editing .AVI Format

Post by markpritch »

Hi guys
I've just tried editing a small piece of .avi video and when I attempt to create a video file by selecting 'same as first video clip' and try to 'save' I get an error message no. 17103:9:3 saying 'Unable to Access Audio Codec Driver'.
Do I need to download this from somewhere?

Many thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

AVI is just a container holding the video file.
There are many different types of Avi¡¦s
DV
Div X etc

Right click on your clip and select properties, what are they. :?: :?:

Where did the video file come from?
For instance if its a still image camera with video capability, install the software that came with the camera.

Gspot is a hand FREE video utility which will display all the properties of ANY video file. I use it often when a video file doesn't 'behave' the way I expect.

You can download it from here

Hi guys
Thanks. \video is a Divx 6.8.5 codec, which I thought I already had.
Audio is Mpeg layer3, perhaps that's the problem.
I was just experimenting and wondered if Pro X2 would allow me to edit although I am quite happy with the regular mpeg 2.
Cheers

jparnold, Its good that you mention that Gspot is a video utility. God knows how immagination carries people away

A very good piece of software indeed. I keep its shortcut on my quick launch toolbar.

I should have also pointed out that there is another very useful FREE video utility which Mark might find useful in this case (DivX 6.8 video clip with MPEG layer 3 audio)
It is called SUPER and will convert video clips from one format to another (video and audio is selectable).
You should be able to download it from HERE

Can we also assume you have read -- and applied -- the fix to ensure that in fact you are really accessing DivX 6.8.5, and not the much older version 5 which comes with VS...? See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=167279#167279
