Hi everyone, Could someone please give me some advice on how to change the settings in "share project " so i can burn a DVD in NTSC format for Canada ( i normally use PAL). The files have been rendered to NTSC in VS11.5 and when i go to burn the DVD the "mpeg properties for file conversion" list days it is still in DVD-PAL format. I have gone into "settings/properties" and "preferences" and all is set to NTSC. I have also gone into "change MPEG settings" - "Customised" and it will not let me change from DVD-PAL. Can anyone please share any advice. Thanks

Can you please confirm which 'Preferences' you are referring to -- the general Preferences for the whole program, or the ones in the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen? The latter is the important one for what you are doing. And if that one is set to NTSC, instead of the default PAL-SECAM one for Australia, and if the little box beside 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the middle icon, then it does not matter what the default properties above that box say, as you have compliant NTSC mpeg files and the program is set to burn NTSC.

Hi Ken, Thanks for your reply. In the preference menu ( bottom left ) i have changed from PAL/SECAM to NTSC and the button in the next menu
(middle, bottom left) " Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is selected.

I will give this a try..... many thanks

Let us know. In reality, though, you may have found that your Canadian friend's equipment could possibly read your PAL DVD. These days, most stand-alone DVD players can read DVDs from any region, particularly the cheaper ones. This has long been the case for PAL players reading NTSC discs, though the reverse was not true for a long time. But with the advent of mass produced Chinese and Korean players, a lot of the old rules hae (thankfully) been broken.

What you could try anyway is to make your NYSC disc, but send it to Canada along with a PAL copy of the same disc, and ask your friend if it will play properly. That way, you won't have to go to the trouble of making an NTSC disc again.

Hi

If you have made a compatible Mpeg (Ntsc)
Then you should from a new empty project Share-Create Disc-Add Video.
This would burn a dvd without change. The video file will not be converted or rendered in the burner module.
Make sure that ¡¥ Do not convert compliant MPEG files¡¦ by default is selected. If you have never changed this then you don¡¦t have to go there.

Before doing Share Create Disc if you change the project settings to match the video file, the burner module will reflect these settings.

See my guide http://uk.geocities.com/trevor.andrew@b ... e_mpeg.htm
Scroll down to ¡¥burn a disc¡¦ section

Thanks Ken and Trevor, I have sent copies of the DVD to Canada in both NTSC & PAL ( PAL to test as per Kens suggestion). I tested the NTSC DVD and all worked out great. Thanks again
