Bit rate - would 9000 kbps produce better quality dvd

If I have under an hour to put on a dvd, would changing the bit rate to 9000 kbps or higher produce a better quality dvd?

Notionally, yes, but some stand-alone DVD players have difficulty with anything over 8000 kbps. And I am not sure that the final quality would be really noticeably better anyway...

I used to use 8000 but sometimes got "glitches" on DVD playback.I now use constant 7000 which solved the problem and cannot notice any difference in quality. ......................Ken

Because 8,000 for video, does not include any audio bitrate, and as mentioned above some players tripped over when given a "combined" bitrate of 8,000.

Yes, I always use 7,000 for video plus whatever audio I decide to use and I never have a problem with quality or playability.

If you have a crappy 300bit video file trying to make it a 9000bit video file will do squat!!

Ya canne make a diamond from a bit of lead so to speak....
