I have a DV camcorder with analog passthrough, meaning I can connect an analog video source to it's input, and send the signal directly to the Firewire port without first going to tape. To use this with VS12, I need to be able to it to not sent a "device control" signal to the camcorder when I capture video. Otherwise VS will try to turn on the tape transport, which I don't want. (I am not using tape in this scenario.) Does VS12 have such a setting? I can't find it. Usually it says something like: "Device Control: On or Off."
Setup is:
Analog source --> DV camcorder passthru --> PC (via Firewire)
Without such a setting, when I try to capture, VS times out and gives me an error.
I was able to do this with other video editors I have used by disabling such a setting.
Firewire "Device Control" setting in VS12?

For whatever reasons, v11, 11.5, and v12 (X2) cannot capture via passthru. The last version that could is v10. We've asked Corel for a patch to correct this but it has never come.
Download WinDV and do your passthru capture with that, then import the clips into VS.
