Loaded a quicktime movie file this morning, made a couple of edits then wrote the file out as an MP4 iPhone file. The file was created correctly but VS 12 hung, I had to C-A-D to quit the program. I re-did this and the same thing happened again.

EDIT by sjj1805 - Administrator.
The member had previously used these files without any problem on Vista and so this appears to be a Windows 7 issue.

Aha.
Also when in DVD menu, to bring up the Project settings press Alt+J

Seems to be missing the Icon

Same thing here.

And Alt-N does permit me to burn.

Thanks for the shortcut. Did not think of that.

As people have found, even though the buttons are off the screen in the burning module, you can go to the next screen with Alt-N. You can also get to the project properties with Alt-G or the MPEG burning properties with Alt-J

Richard, thank you so much for the tip. I am struggling since I installed Win7 RC with the missing buttons. Had to use VirtualBox with WindowsXP to do the DVD authoring, what a nuisance! I tried to install Videostudio XP in compatibility mode (WinXP and Vista), but the problem was still there. At least I can now proceed with DVD Authoring. :D
I really hope that Corel will release a patch soon, I won't like the idea to buy a new version of Videostudio so soon after buying Win7. :x

Did anyone try editing AVCHD video to see if the transition blips occur on Windows7 as well? Sorry Ken I posted in the wrong forum before...

Hi Accolades,

Have you tried using Windows 7 Compatibility Module, from the get go?

Like for example when you first install VS and service packs and or patches?

Cheers,

Pete..

Ken Berry wrote:Another minor note: as people will (may?) be aware, Windows 7 has a new feature called Snap where you drag a program title bar to the top of the monitor screen and it automatically fills out to full screen; or drag it to either side of screen, and the program fills out (or contracts) to occupy only that half of the screen. I thought it might be nice if this worked with X2 since the inability to re-size the VS windows to partial screen size has long been a complaint with users.

However, of course Snap doesn't work with it because you can't drag the title bar in any direction since it is already full screen. It would be nice, however, if Corel designers took advantage of it... (Mind you, on some monitors, having a half screen version -- and correspondingly tiny preview screen -- would make the program pretty unusable... which is why we have to surmise that the Ulead, and now Corel, designers leave it at full screen or minimised to taksbar...)
And here I was thinking the snap feature was a bug with windows 7  I wonder if Nine monitors properly stacked may be an advantage if one uses snap?

Pete..

Only indirectly related to VS, a more significant problem I am having with Win 7 is that every time -- and I mean every -- I use the new WMP, when I next open Windows Explorer/Computer, it cannot see the various drives attached to the computer. Sometimes the word 'Computer' doesn't even appear, just the Libraries. When 'Computer' does appear, when I click on it, the green progress screen moves across the top of screen but it never brings anything up -- once I even left it that way for over two hours.

This is important to me at least since I have been using Win 7 WMP a lot since discovering how good it is as streaming my edited high definition videos to my networked PS3. The only way around it is to reboot the computer. But that quickly becomes annoying when you have to do it several times in an hour...
I had the same problem, and I believe its Windows Live that does this..
What I use to do was log out and then back in..
that is if you really cant get by without windows LIVE..

Hope I helped,

I installed it from the start in Compatibility Mode without success on this specific problem with the DVD Creator's buttons. I even tried to look through the registry in order to catch the problem. The problem is with Windows 7.

Dear Ms Heesen,

There is no patch needed for VideoStudio X2 to run on Windows 7.
If you are experiencing some issues with the program, try to reinstall it first.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.

Kind regards,

To be more specific on the problem: The Create Disc application panel layout is faulty with missing buttons. Without the buttons, access to the MPEG properties and the Project Properties is not possible. The burn option is also not available in this state. "

I've sent them a screen shot of the menu application page. I can't understand why they say VideoStudio don't need any patch for Win7 - did they tested it like us?

Hmm,
It looks like my system that edits videos may have to wait a little longer before I install Windows 7, meaning the Hardware Upgrade also has to wait until some sort of Patch is released by Corel<sigh> which means Rendering times will still take "minutes to hours" rather than "seconds to minutes" for a while longer..

Err~does any one know if Adobe Premiers latest creation has any issues with Windows 7? Perhaps it's time to bite the bullet and Down-grade Err~ or is that Up-grade to Adobes comparable but rather expensive Video solutions?

I guess the answer to which product is Top Dog, relies on Corel and whether they are aware just how close VideoStudio is about to topple or jump over night to the number one Video Editing choice by all..

It's a shame its right on the edge of losing its hold on first place, as it's such a joy to use most of the time..

With the above mentioned niggle along with the AVCHD niggles addressed in Windows 7, I reason it would be the number one choice, of course if that ever happened, Corel could charge what ever they wanted for their product, and it still would sell better than Adobe..

Cheers!

Peter J Schoen..
