Just noticed that the patch for the U.S. and other places to support Windows 7 is now on the Corel site:

Link http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 7273776985.

It is called Service Pack 2.
I believe this is incorrect. What they are calling service pack two in that link is the patch they came out with last Dec 08 to fix various issues.

Below that is the patch for windows 7 which upon further analysis is exactly the same file discovered earlier in this thread for the Japan market. I down'oaded the two and compared them. Maybe the Japanese were unknowing beta testers and now that it's all good the rest of the world gets it? I know I downloaded the Japan patch a couple weeks ago and solved all my Win 7 issues.

Well at any rate Corel has stepped up and addressed the problem. Kudos to them. Now about those moving paths............
Here is what they say about service pack 2. Read the last sentence. (And it did fix the Windows 7 compatibility issue for me.)

Update:
Fixed operating system compatibility issues: VideoStudio X2 now runs on Microsoft Windows 7.
You're right I must be high :) What I meant to say is sp2 is identical to the japanese patch.

Hello again
First i apologise if someone somewhere asked this, but i didn't find it.
I have problem with fonts. I don't see option for font type Central European. I am from Croatia and we have š đ ž ć č letters. First three are in Video studio 12, but last three not. Earlier versions od Video Studio had those letters, but now i have WIN 7 and I can't run earlier versions of Video Studio, and Video Studio has other possibilities that i like and which are not in earlier versions. (I have installed croatian fonst on computer and they work in other applicaitons!)
Thanks for response!

I have Win7 64bit, X2 Pro and loaded the SP2 patch. Finally fixed the GUI problem; however, the ticker marks for the chapters on Create DVD still does not show up. Does anybody having the same problem? Is this a DirectX issue? My Win7 has DX 11, but have not loaded the latest update of DX per the Aug 2009 latest update. Thanks in advanced.

I have a similar system: Win 7 64 bit, X2 Pro with both patches, DX11. I think I did apply the Aug. 2009 DX update, although I was not sure if it was necessary for Windows 7 with DX11.

In my system the chapter ticker marks appear in "Create DVD" only on the screen that comes up when I click on "Add/Edit Chapter". They do not show up on the other "Create DVD" screens. I don't remember whether they used to show up on those other screens when I was using Vista.

Some questions, since we have the same setup. Did you apply the X2 Vista Patch on your Win7? I can't remember if I did or not. Will it matter or will it have any adverse effect with Win7?

Also, are you able to use the "Auto Add Chapters". It crashes X2 everytime. I'm not sure if this is related to DirectX.

I'll upgrade to the Aug 2009 DirectX and see if this will fix the chapter ticker mark in th "Add/Edit Chapter" and the "Auto Add Chapters"

Ok. I answered my questions. The Aug 2009 DirectX update fixed the Win7/X2 "Add/Edit Chapter" chapter ticker mark AND the "Auto Add Chapters".

In conclusion, despite having the latest DirectX 11 on Windows 7, you will still need to load/update the Aug 2009 DirectX PLUS the X2 SP2 Patch to get all the features of X2 functioning properly in Windows 8. That's how I got mine to work.

Hope this benefits some of the Win7/X2 users.

I just want to say after I installed Windows 7 Professional Edition I was very surprised to see that the same issues with X2 were still there, but after installing the patch (SP2) everything was at long last solved. It just showed that the problem was not with the Windows prereleases but with Corel. Thanks for all the user inputs :D

OK, I might need some hand holding here.

I did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro (Blank drive), and then installed X2, then X2 SP1, then Corel's "Win 7" patch (SP2?), in that order.

After I get the video project the way I want, I go to "Share", create DVD.... but I can't create any chapters, I can't change the intro or preview image, and when I go to burn the DVD, there's only the "Preference" button in the lower left of the menu screen.

All the preview-chapter buttons are greyed out, except "Auto chapter", which if I use "Auto Chapter" the system crashes.

If anyone has a fix, what order and what patches / downloads do I need to install.

I seen conversation about DirectX (version Aug 2009), is that different / better than the DirectX that comes with Win 7 Pro?

Can I have two versions of directX on my system?

Thanks

LOL ... OK, yes, I am an idiot.

I re-read the post about updating DirectX with the Aug 2009 update, even though DX 11 comes with win 7 Pro (32 bit).

I'll update the DX and see if that cures all my ills.

Thanks
