Code is code. All 1s and 0s. There is no language barrier.

Jeff,

Do you think that the Japanese version is written in English? I would be very surprised if it was. The code may be all 1s and 0s, but that doesn't mean that there is no language barrier. Take a look at this web site: http://www.asciitable.com/. There are no Ascii Japanese characters.

Regardless of that, when you download the update and click on it to install, all that appears on screen is an installation routine in English. There is no preliminary screen offering a choice of languages. It is in English...

I wasn't refering to the installation of the patch, I was refering to the patch itself. For example, maybe it will change some text that appears in the program from English to Japanese.

I was speculating on whether or not the patch would replace some English text with Japanese text, IN THE PROGRAM.

I don't think anyone here would be able to answer that, none of us work for Corel and so unless someone has tried installing a non English Patch into an English program (unlikely) it is pure guess work as to the outcome.

But Steve, isn't installing a non-English patch into an English program exactly what is being done? Maybe I am confused.

... And in any case (and to repeat), I am not sure you can classify as a 'non-English patch' a patch which, though downloaded from a Japanese site, opens ONLY in English. There is no other language, or sign of katakana, hiragana or kanji in it. It is English-only; it appears to work with the English-language version of X2; and so far at least I personally have not noticed any negative effects from it...

It's Japanese for, roughly, 'Yes! That's it!' ... though perhaps I should not have given you that input because now you might suspect it will do something unexpected!!
