Titling contention

I have a simple title that fades in/out over video, and it causes more contention than an effect or filter. The video seems to struggle (slightly jerky) and then when the Text track is complete, the video starts playing normally. I looked at the Task Manager, and the processing is not that much higher (about 54%) when the title effect does its thing...drops down to about 52% when it is done. Is this normal?
Thanks,
JR

Do you mean the title is jerky whilst viewing it within VideoStudio, or do you mean after you have rendered it to a new video?
VideoStudio is not meant for viewing a video (like Windows Media Player, WinDVD / PowerDVD etc.) it is meant for editing and so only provides you with a rough looking preview so that you are able to edit the source video.

That wasn't very specific was it...
VideoStudio 12 Pro X2 ( vers 12.0.98.1 )
Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit
This is during playback only. The title is fine, it's the video that suffers while the title is rendering. The video starts playing smoothly after the title track is finished. It's not terrible, I just wondered if there was a setting, or if anyone else experiences this.
Thank you,

Its quite usual for this to happen whilst the rendering is going on. It's best to find something else to do whilst the video is rendering. I usually find it is more fun watching paint dry than watching the preview whilst rendering. If you switch the preview off then you wont be tempted to watch it

The main thing is does the finished video (Video file for PC or DVD for TV) play OK?

Yes, everything is great. It just seemed odd that previewed effects play smoothly while regular text causes sluggishness. I am fading in/out a small credit splash in the lower left corner using a standard font.
The only time it caused me problems was when I was trying to synchronize audio with what was going on in the video, and the text overlay was causing the video to skip and stutter just enough to make it annoying.

So the finished product is OK? We should remember that Video Studio is not a video player, the preview screen is what it says it is, a preview. Just an indication of what the finished product will be. I find that if my anti virus or spyware auto scan is working in the background that affects the preview screen and if I have other programs open that has an affect as well. Transitions, fading effects etc take a lot of processor power as I'm sure you will appreciate and this affects the preview more that straight video!

Obviously the more you have on the timeline the more that needs to be rendered on the fly for a preview. If all you have is one video track and one title track going it is a little strange that it would bog things down. Of course any filters and such on the video clips will cause things to slow down too.
