poor captured video quality

Post by dallak »

I have read 'Recommended work flow', but the highest setting for frame size available in my capture settings is 640x480. 720x480 does not show up, is this important? Also, I have all my capture settings as specified, MPEG-2., 8614, variable, 29.97, lower field first,. Issue is caputred video quality (when I play back on Windows Media Player or burn it to DVD) is jerky, poor color, very grainy, not even close to what is viewed on the DV camcorder. I don't think I am being too fussy, it is not something I would want for my family memories. 3.2 Gig, new computer, lots of hard drive space, USB caputure. Please help. Using VS8.

Stop using USB - connect via firewire (i-link, IEEE1394) as DV (.avi) and you will be very very pleased with the improvement.
