RAW Files in PI X3

Post by mitchell65 »

Have just downloaded Photo Impact X3 for a 30 day trial. Although my RAW format (ORF) is quoted in the File Open dialogue they don't open in the program. Is this perhaps a restriction in the trial version?

I use PI X3 for my Olympus RAW files. I have the E-510 and PI does open the ORF files after I installed the RAW update patch. So one thing might be as you suggested, a limitation of the trial software or the RAW patch is needed. If that is the case, I believe the patch cannot be applied to trial software.

If you are considering the purchase of PI X3 you should feel confident that the ORF files for your Olympus E-400 can be opened.

Here is another tidbit of information for Olympus RAW users:
OLYMPUS RAW codec
OLYMPUS RAW codec is the program to import and display the RAW data file (file extension is .orf) into Windows Vista or Windows XP. This can be used if your computer's OS is Windows Vista or Windows XP. Please check in the operation manual for your digital camera if this RAW data file works on your digital camera. If you cannot select RAW data file on the camera MENU, you cannot capture RAW data images.

Thanks for that prompt reply, I will have a further look at the program and make a decision whether to purchase or not. At present I use Adobe Elements 6 and am comparing the two
Thanks again
